NORD anniversary in Poland

This year, NORD celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Nowa Sól production site. The foundation in 2005 was part of a global development strategy to increase the company's operational flexibility and strengthen its presence in the Central and Eastern European markets. Poland is the third-largest sales market for NORD in Europe.

In Poland, NORD has two production sites that serve customers domestically, throughout Europe and occasionally in Asia and North America. The decision to produce in Poland was based on various key factors:

• the proximity to the company’s headquarters in Germany,

• the attractive investment conditions,

• the availability of qualified personnel,

• and the economical production with consistently high quality.

The production plant in Nowa Sól was established in 2005 and expanded in 2015 and 2020 due to growth and the development of new markets. Today, the site covers a total area of around 33,000 m² and is home to 453 employees. In 2024, 326,000 drives and more than 3 million gear unit components were sold from there. Target industries include intralogistics, food industry, mechanical engineering as well as infrastructure and transport, for example airports and ports.

Satisfied customers and employees

The Polish production site is characterised by its innovative character, environmentally friendly technologies, social and employee-oriented initiatives, and excellent service. The aim is to achieve high customer satisfaction and to promote employee competence. The company also collaborates with schools and universities, offering internships to students and organising events and training sessions for customers. “As part of the anniversary celebrations, a volleyball tournament for our employees will take place this year,” reports Jörg Niermann, Head of Marketing. “In addition, we want to support an integration initiative in line with our CSR strategy and launch a tree-planting campaign in autumn to underscore our ecological commitment.”

Technological progress in Nowa Sól

Complete drive systems are assembled in Nowa Sól. The site has specialised in the production of worm, helical bevel and helical gear units up to size 5. It also produces gearwheels, gear unit shafts, worm shafts, motor shafts and rotors. Key products include the IE5+ motors as well as the company’s frequency inverters. In addition to mechanical precision work, painting, logistics and extended quality control, the focus is primarily on technological progress, automation, digitalisation, robotics and lean production.
